Analysis of Human-Induced Land Cover Dynamics in Urban Abeokuta Using Remote Sensing and GIS

Abstract

Using Landsat TM, ETM and ETM+ imagery (1988–2022) and ArcGIS 10.8, this study analyses three decades of land-cover change across urban Abeokuta. Built-up area rose from 14.6 km² (1988) to 113.4 km² (2022), with corresponding declines in vegetation cover, evidencing significant human-induced transformation of the urban landscape.
