Financial Dualism and Financial Inclusion as Correlate of Economic Growth in Nigeria: A Correlational Study Survey

This study investigated the relationship between financial dualism, financial inclusion and economic growth in Nigeria using a correlational survey design with 612 economically active adults. Data were gathered via the Financial Dualism, Financial Inclusion and Economic Growth Questionnaire (α = 0.82) and analysed with Pearson correlation and regression. Results showed a significant positive correlation between financial dualism and economic growth (r = 0.413, p < 0.05), between financial inclusion and economic growth (r = 0.270, p < 0.05), and a joint effect (R = 0.447, R² = 0.200, F = 76.092, p < 0.05). The study recommends policies that promote cooperation between formal and informal financial institutions to support sustainable economic growth.

Pests, Diseases, and Parasitic Plants threatening Cocoa Production in Nigeria: Implications for Sustainability

Nigeria is Africa's third-largest cocoa producer, yet productivity has declined sharply. Drawing on peer-reviewed literature (2000–2025), CRIN research, and field surveys, this article catalogues major biotic stressors affecting Theobroma cacao across Nigeria's cocoa belt — mirids, cocoa pod borer, mealybugs, black pod disease (Phytophthora spp.), cocoa swollen shoot virus, vascular streak dieback, and Tapinanthus parasites. Regional variations, agroecological drivers and climate interactions are discussed alongside evidence-based recommendations covering integrated pest management, molecular surveillance, climate-adaptive practices, host resistance, policy reform, and farmer empowerment.

Harnessing Motherhood Influence on Sustainable Planning in Nigeria

This study examines motherhood as an underexplored social institution influencing sustainable planning in Nigeria. Using a qualitative, conceptual and interpretive design drawing on national statistics, peer-reviewed studies and documented cases, it analyses how motherhood-related roles intersect with planning functions such as environmental management, community development and resource stewardship. Findings show women perform critical sustainability functions in sanitation, waste management and informal service provision yet remain excluded from formal governance, land ownership and decision-making. Determinants of participation include education and empowerment, while gender norms, economic exclusion and care burdens act as structural barriers.

Discourse Practices in Facebook Commenters on LGBTQ Individuals in Nigeria between 2020 and 2025

Anchored in Fairclough's three-dimensional Critical Discourse Analysis, this qualitative study examines Facebook comments on LGBTQ persons in Nigeria between 2020 and 2025. Most comments deployed moral-religious, legal and cultural arguments — labelling, othering, rhetorical questioning, evaluative adjectives, metaphors, pronouns and sarcasm — to construct negative attitudes, while a smaller subset expressed tolerance framed around human rights and equality. The study concludes that online language is a powerful tool for negotiating power, ideology and social norms, and highlights how digital discourse can either perpetuate marginalisation or foster inclusivity.
