Created in God's Image: Gender Diversity, Justice and Sustainable Development in Genesis 1:26-28

Abstract

This paper examines how Genesis 1:26–28 has been interpreted in relation to gender diversity, justice and sustainable development. Through biblical exegesis, theological reflection and development theory, it argues gender equity is foundational to both justice and sustainability, critiques patriarchal structures in religious and social systems, and outlines a theological vision for inclusive human flourishing with practical implications for church, society and the SDGs.
